How To Convert Word (DOC, DOCX) To PDF
Word's built-in "Save As PDF" works fine if you're on the same machine that has Word installed. If you're on a Chromebook, a phone, or a machine without an Office license, you need another option.
Word To PDF uses LibreOffice on a Lambda worker to render the document. Layout, fonts, tables, and images come through cleanly.
Will My Fonts Be Preserved
Standard fonts (Arial, Times New Roman, Calibri, Helvetica, and the rest of the system-default set) are preserved exactly. Custom or proprietary fonts that LibreOffice doesn't have are substituted with the closest match in its library.
For 95 percent of documents this is invisible. For documents with heavily customized typography, the substitution may shift line breaks slightly. If exact font fidelity matters, embed the custom fonts in the source DOCX before converting.
How To Convert
Drop your DOC or DOCX into Word To PDF. Click Convert. The file is uploaded to an isolated Lambda worker, rendered by LibreOffice, and returned as a PDF via a signed download URL.
Both DOC (legacy Word) and DOCX (modern Word) are supported.
Privacy
Cloud rendering needs the file, so the document is uploaded over HTTPS. It's processed in a short-lived isolated worker and deleted within 24 hours.
