How To Resize A PDF To A4, Letter, Legal, A3, Or A5

PDFs come in every page size imaginable - photo prints, oddball receipts, scanner output, screenshots. When you need to merge or print them as a single document, those varying sizes become a problem.

Resize PDF standardizes everything. Pick a target sheet size, and every page is placed onto that sheet, scaled to fit. The result is a PDF where every page is the same paper size.

Which Size To Pick

A4 is the global standard - use it for international audiences and most office printers outside North America. Letter is the US and Canada default. Legal is the elongated North American size for legal documents. A3 is double A4, useful for spreadsheets and large drawings. A5 is half A4, useful for handouts and notebooks.

Pick the size your final destination expects. Printing in the US? Letter. Sending to a European client? A4.

What Happens To The Content

Each source page is scaled to fit the new sheet while preserving aspect ratio. If the source and target have different aspect ratios, you'll see white margins on the sides. The content is never stretched or distorted.

Text stays selectable because pages are embedded as vector content, not rasterized images. This matters when the resized PDF will be searched, copied from, or fed into accessibility tools.

Orientation

Auto preserves each source page's natural orientation - landscape pages get a landscape sheet, portrait pages get portrait. This is the right default for mixed documents.

Portrait or Landscape forces every page into that orientation, which can be useful for printers that only accept one orientation per print job.
